you can but you’ll need to replace the standard transformer (if your fittings are low voltage) or install if the present fittings are 240v to electronic for LED lamps if you just replace the lamps you’ll blow the internal circuit board. however as this is in a zoned location any work should be carried out by a fully qualified and PART P certified electrician.

GU10 of mains voltage can be replaced with LED bulbs that run of mains voltage. Note the bulbs cost £9 each (20 LED cluster) and although last a long time, the light is a slightly blue with the white bulbs and low light levels. But very cheep to run.
You can also get GU10 compact fluorescent bulbs (bulbs a little longer shape) that offer bright light.

If your running on a 12v system (Not GU10 but MR16 etc), then you need a LED transformer for the low voltage LED bulbs.
White LED low voltage bulbs are cheaper £6 each but the LED driver (transformer) cost around £16.
The LED driver must be connected to the mains voltage.
Ive been toying around with the LED bulbs, love them. But you need lots more bulbs for a given area, due to the low light levels.
